It’s ok to have a “Pity Party”

Today is not a good day!

There are going to be days when things do not go to plan, our emotions can take over and all that you want to do is have a “Pity Party”

That happened to me this week, I was not in a good place as right now I should be in Africa on a Safari seeing the Big Five and enjoying the holiday of a lifetime with my husband.

To say that I was pissed off with the world for ruining my plans is an understatement. But there was nothing I could do but feel sad, mad, and annoyed at my situation.

You may be thinking “Isn't that why you teach mindfulness?"

Well yes!

And that is why I need "Mindfulness" .... because I am also human.

Being human and living in the real world is living with emotions, and that includes experiencing heartache, anger, and fear. If we do not experience all these emotions then we are hiding from ourselves and missing out on what life can offer.

Having to postpone our holiday in the scheme of things is not that big of a deal, but it was for me at that moment. And sometimes we must forgive ourselves and allow ourselves to "feel".

Feeling sad can be from losing a loved one, getting divorced, losing your job, or even missing out on a holiday!.

We need to realise that it is ok to be sad, to let ourselves grieve to help us move past the hurt, to get mad and let the emotions all out.

So next time you are feeling “sad or mad” and you just want to have the “Pity Party” DO IT.

Just remember,  don’t stay there too long, because the real test is how we move on from that emotion.

Having the right Mindfulness Tools to support you through the pain, to help you move pass the negative and bring balance back to into your life is when you are truly living your best life!
